Refund policy
Returns
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. The return package must be scanned in by a postal carrier before the 31st day to be eligible for a refund.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, and unopened, and in its original packaging.
We know that this can be inconvenient, as shopping online for things like perfume and cologne can be difficult. We do our best to write detailed descriptions of the scents so that you are likely to know whether or not you will like them before purchasing. We are working on adding sample sizes to our offerings so that you can try before you buy the full sized items.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Items sent back to us using a label other than the one we have provided will not be accepted. You may be required to pay for your shipping label. If you would like to exchange your product, we will ask you to first return the product in your possession, then make a new purchase of the item you wish to have.
We are not responsible for return or exchange shipping costs if the items delivered arrive as ordered.

Damages and issues
Because we are a small business that strives to keep prices low for our customers, we cannot be held responsible for damages in shipment. We don't think you should be held responsible either, so we offer Route Shipping Protection that covers damages in shipment and packages lost by carriers. Route is only $0.98 and is available to add at checkout.
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue. You must contact us within the first 2 weeks of receiving your shipment.
Melted Products
To avoid receiving melted product, be sure to keep an eye on your tracking number, and watch for your package, bringing it inside ASAP. Melted tallow is still completely useable. Because there is no way to avoid melting in transit, Root Apothecary is not responsible for melted product. Read more here.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. We will not cover the shipping costs of exchanges.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
